60 seconds with…IHC’s, Izzy Sprules
Izzy Sprules recently joined IHC as an administration assistant working alongside the Group Risk team as well as supporting the PMI team and MD. Izzy is fairly new to the insurance industry, kicking off her career in the sector last year with contracts at Integro insurance brokers and Lloyd’s Syndicate, Apollo 1969.
What attracted you to working for IHC?
I really liked the fact that it’s a relatively small, independently owned company and I was impressed by the open and friendly manner in which my interview was conducted. It made me want to join IHC so I was delighted when offered a position! It’s good to work with a nice tight knit group of people, who act more like family than a group of colleagues.
What are your top three priorities over the next 6-12 months?
At the moment, Sandra Vaughan is kindly teaching me the ins and outs of Group Risk and the products and is being very patient with me! So, my first priority is trying to get to grips with so much new information! Another priority is keeping all of the teams happy and most importantly, trying my best to make a cup of tea that is acceptable to our MD, Nick!
What would make your working day easier?
Working from home although I would miss the team banter!
What would make your working day easier?
If I could have more hours in the day! But failing that I have found that new technology such as Skype calls and Facetime has been really helpful in enabling me to be in three places at once!
What do you like most about working in this industry?
The main thing that drew me to this industry was the fact that I wanted a career, not just a job, and insurance offers so many opportunities and the chance for growth. Also, I get to work with a great team of people so the social side is another important contributing factor.
If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
Luxury hotel and world class travel tester!
What mantra or motto do you live by?
As my mum often says to me: “Choices, regardless of good or bad, always have consequences.”
What are you most proud of?
Getting into university and graduating with a degree because I was the first one ever in my family to do this.
